Q2/2015 was auspicious for the port of Gothenburg as the volume of containerised freight was 2% higher than in Q2/2014. Some 418,000 teu passed over the Swedish port’s quay walls in H1/2015.
There was a 5% increase in the export and import of new cars in H1/2015 compared to the same period last year. The rise can be attributed to a decision taken by Volvo at the beginning of the year to ship cars bound for Finland, Russia and China via Gothenburg.
However, ro-ro traffic fell to 265,000 units, 7% lower than in H1/2014. Ro-ro shipments account for a large proportion of intra-European freight transport.
