Canada Post registered a loss before tax of CAD 31 million for Q2/2015, compared to a profit of CAD 53 million for the same three months in 2014. The regular letter volumes fell by 7.2%, the worst decline since 2006.
The H1/2015 loss before tax came in at CAD 7 million (H1/2014: + CAD 26 million). With regard to parcel volumes, they increased by more than two million items or 6.5% in Q2/2015, due to the development of the business with e-tailers and their consumers. Revenue for Canada Post's parcels segment increased by CAD 17 million or 4.8% to CAD 370 million in Q2, and by CAD 56 million or 5.5% in the first half, vis-a-vis the same periods a year ago.
The entire Canada Post group of companies recorded a H1/2015 profit before tax of CAD 18 million (H1/2014: CAD 49 million).
